21st Century Democrats Endorses Mac D'Alessandro for Congress (MA-9)
Washington, DC - Today, 21st Century Democrats endorsed Mac D'Alessandro for Massachusetts's 9th Congressional district. Mac is running for Congress to be an advocate for those who too often lack a voice in Washington amid the chorus of special interests. He has spent his career fighting for working families and knows that we need allies in Congress who are standing with us and fighting for us.
As Program Consultant for Surdna, a national foundation, he helped organizations acquire grants to promote environmental justice and sustainable development. As Legislature Director for Greater Boston Legal Services, he guaranteed low-income workers had the job training and support they needed to succeed. Since joining the Service Employees International Union in 2001, most recently as New England Political Director, he has fought to protect hospital patients, vulnerable seniors, and healthcare workers.
As a Congressman, he will work to revive the economy and create good jobs by maintaining economic stimulus in the face of growing pressure to reduce the deficit. He knows we must reform the education system, including No Child Left Behind, while also making America a leader in global climate negotiates that produce a treaty that can be ratified and makes a substantive difference in protecting our environment.
"We are proud to endorse Mac D'Alessandro," said Jim Scheibel, Chairman of 21st Century Democrats. "His entire career has been dedicated to helping others and we know he will continue to do so when elected to Congress."
21st Century Democrats is a Washington, D.C., based grassroots-oriented political action committee that endorses and helps elect progressive Democrats. In the last 10 years alone, the organization has helped more than 165 candidates in 31 states win election; has employed and trained 475 field organizers and 500 canvassers; and has trained 4,400 activists in the fundamentals of grassroots organizing.
